SUNDAY SCHOOL
Opening our minds through education

Participation and Curriculum

Children from kindergarten through 8th grade attend first part of worship service with their family and then go to Sunday School. Children in grades 2 and up are invited to return to the sanctuary to take communion with their families on the first Sunday of the month. It is up to each family to decide if they wish their children to participate in communion. The current curriculum is the WITNESS Sunday school program from Augburg Fortress Publishing Co. This program enables the learners to know the word of God, grow in their faith and show this through service to others and to God.

Safer Spaces Policy

Union Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, is committed to creating and maintaining a worship and work community in an atmosphere free of all forms of discrimination, harassment, exploitation or intimidation. All persons associated with the church should be aware that the church is strongly opposed to sexual exploitation and harassment and that such behavior is prohibited by church policy.

The Safer Church Committee, in conjunction with the Christian Education Committee, developed a policy with the intent to make the church environment safe for all children, all women and men using the facilities. The policy does not discriminate according to national origin, religious affiliation, race, age, handicapping conditions, gender, sexual orientation, or any other differentiating category of people using our facilities. This policy would allow our facilities to be accessible to all in an open and affirming fashion, without the fear of any abuse, neglect, or mistreatment.

The Policy for Safer Spaces was approved by the Church Council in Sept., 2007.
