Nursery and Christian Education

Union Congregational Church has a Safe Church Policy in place and all care-givers and teachers have  background checks on file.

A staffed nursery is available for children up to age 5. Parents are always welcome to visit the nursery.

Children from kindergarten through 8th grade attend the first part of worship service with their family and then go to Sunday School.

All children are invited to return to the sanctuary to take communion with their families on the first Sunday of the month. It is up to each family to decide if they wish their children to participate in communion.

The current curriculum is the Sparkhouse Whirl lectionary Sunday school program from Augsburg Fortress. This program incorporates Bible stories, activities, crafts, media, and games into a full faith experience for children.

Every Whirl lesson follows a four-part sequence: Welcome, Hear, Respond, and Launch (WHRL!). Each week, kids and leaders start their time together by identifying where they are in the church year. Next, they dive into the Bible together, respond to the scripture lesson with creative leaflet activities, and circle up to review the lesson and pray before being sent out.

The Reverend Bob Marrone leads Bible studies for adults every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon in the church parlor.
